I saw a child carrying a light. I asked him where he got it from.
Instantly he blew it out and said "Tell me where it's gone and I'll tell you where it came from." --Hasan of Basra

Photography has always been part of my process as a painter. With these images of a brass chandelier, the photographs take center stage as complete works of art in themselves. These images form part of a larger exhibition in November, 2021 (my third exhibition of photographs). They were inspired by the opening credits sequence in “The Music Room,” the first film by the Indian director, Satyajit Ray. The brass chandelier was a chance find that sparked the possibility of realizing my response to this inspiration. The images then came through all at once as a pure gift, and one of the most exhilarating experiences I have had as an artist over many decades.
